Greenhouse Photography Terms and Acknowledgement

"Under Virginia law, there is no liability for an injury to or death of a participant in an agritourism activity conducted at this agritourism location if such injury or death results from the inherent risks of the agritourism activity. Inherent risks of agritourism activities include, among others, risks of injury inherent to land, equipment, and animals, as well as the potential for you to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to your injury or death. You are assuming the risk of participating in this agritourism activity."

Sterling Hills Farm Greenhouse Photography Policies​

The greenhouse and surrounding farm property are privately owned and maintained. By booking or participating in a photography session at Sterling Hills Farm, all photographers, clients, guests, and participants acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.

 

Respect for Property

Sterling Hills Farm is both a working farm and a private residence. We kindly ask all visitors to treat the property, greenhouse, furnishings, landscaping, and structures with care and respect.

No items, furnishings, décor, planters, pottery, plants, equipment, or accessories located within or around the greenhouse may be moved, rearranged, removed, or altered without the express permission of Sterling Hills Farm.

Windows, doors, latches, locks, and other building components are not to be touched, opened, adjusted, or manipulated. Guests may not attempt to unlock or open greenhouse windows that are not already open.

Furniture & Furnishings

For safety and preservation of property:

• Standing, climbing, kneeling, jumping, or balancing on furniture is strictly prohibited.

• Sitting on tables, plant stands, shelves, decorative pieces, planters, countertops, or any item not specifically designed as seating is prohibited.

• Children may not climb/stand on furniture, décor, shelving, planters, or other greenhouse features.

• Any damage resulting from misuse of furnishings or décor may result in repair or replacement charges.

 

Children

Children must remain under the supervision of a parent or gaurdian at all times.

Parents/guardians, are responsible for ensuring that children:

• Do not climb/stand on furnishings, structures, planters, or decorative elements.

• Do not pull, pick, remove, or damage flowers, landscaping, potted plants, or greenery.

 

Pets​

Pets are welcome under the following conditions:

• All animals must arrive and depart on a leash.

• Leashes may be removed only during active photography sessions inside the designated photography area.

• Animals may not roam freely or remain off-leash elsewhere on the farm property.

• Pet owners must immediately clean up and properly dispose of all pet waste.

• Animals are not permitted on furniture unless a blanket or protective covering has been provided by the owner and placed over the furniture before use.

• Owners assume full responsibility for any damage, injury, or cleaning required as a result of their animal's presence.

 

Smoking & Vaping

Sterling Hills Farm maintains a strict no-smoking policy, including as a prop for photography.

Smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, marijuana use, or the use of any smoking-related product is strictly prohibited anywhere on the property, including:

• The greenhouse

• Parking areas

• Pastures

• Fields

• Walkways

• All indoor and outdoor spaces of Sterling Hills Farm

Violation of this policy will result in immediate removal from the property without refund.

Props, Decorations & Materials​

Photographers and clients are welcome to bring personal props for their session with the exception of the following:

​

• Glitter, confetti, loose metallic flakes, powder products, smoke effects, or similar materials that create residue or require cleanup are strictly prohibited.

• No nails, screws, staples, tape, adhesives, command strips, or fastening devices may be attached to any greenhouse surface, furnishing, structure, or décor.

• Any cleanup, repair, or restoration costs resulting from unauthorized materials shall be the responsibility of the photographer and/or client.

 

Landscaping & Grounds​

Guests may not:

• Pick flowers, greenery, branches, or plants.

• Disturb landscaping beds.

• Remove decorative materials.

• Walk through planted areas not intended for foot traffic.

 

We work hard to maintain the beauty of the greenhouse and grounds and appreciate your cooperation in preserving them.

Session Timing​

All photography sessions must begin and conclude within the reserved period.

A fifteen (15) minute buffer is intentionally scheduled between reservations to accommodate guest departure and arrival. This buffer is not considered part of the reserved rental period and may not be used to extend a session. We kindly ask that you respect the reserved time.

Damage & Liability

The booking party, photographer, and session participants accept responsibility for any damage caused by themselves, their guests, children, animals, vendors, or invitees.

Sterling Hills Farm reserves the right to seek reimbursement for repair, replacement, restoration, cleaning, or loss resulting from damage to:

• Furnishings

• Pottery

• Planters

• Greenhouse structures

• Décor

• Landscaping

• Equipment

• Personal property

 

Replacement costs may include the full retail replacement value of damaged items when repair is not feasible.

Assumption of Risk

Guests acknowledge that they are visiting a working farm environment that may contain uneven ground, gravel, mud, insects, wildlife, farm equipment, agricultural structures, and other naturally occurring conditions.

By entering the property, guests voluntarily assume all risks associated with their visit and release Sterling Hills Farm, its owners, employees, representatives, and agents from liability for injury, loss, damage, or claims arising from their use of the property, except where prohibited by applicable law.

 

Acknowledgement

By booking, entering, or participating in a photography session at Sterling Hills Farm, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to comply with these Greenhouse Photography Session Terms and Policies. I further agree to ensure that all members of my party, including children, guests, and animals, comply with these requirements.
